Background[]

Personality[]

Despite her initially destructive nature, Viridi is not necessarily evil; rather, she desires revenge on the human race for taking advantage of nature. As a result of Pit getting in the way of her plans, she often argues with him in a childish manner while sending her Forces of Nature to attack him.

However, during the Aurum invasion and learning the truth of Fenyx's heritage, she begins to have a change of heart, and remains an ally for the rest of the game. Though she claims that she is only helping Pit because it is in her best interest, it is implied in Chapter 16 that she may secretly have a soft spot for the angel.

Etymology[]

  • Viridi does not appear to be based off of any one Greek figure. However, her title as the Goddess of Nature may be a reference to the ancient Greek goddess Physis, while her alternate title of "ruler of the earth and all living things" may be a reference to Gaia, goddess of the Earth.
  • Viridi's name is based on the Latin word "viridis," which is a root word for the color green. It also means "youthful," a possible reference to her young-looking appearance.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Unlike Medusa and Hades, she seems to care for her minions, as she refers to them as her "children," and in Chapter 18, will teleport them out if they get in the way of Pit's fire rather then just letting them die. She also works with some of them to improve their skills, such as with Cragalanche.
    • The fact that she refers to her minions as children may be a pun on her role as "Mother Nature."
  • According to a weapon conversation with Pit about Palms, Viridi reveals that the reason she looks so young is because she takes good care of her skin.
  • In a pre-release screencap for the 3DS, Viridi was shown to have two red roses decorating the front of her vine crown. This detail was later changed in the final version of the game.
  • According to Phosphora, Viridi reads fortunes.
